Torre Colimena is a small seaside village, part of Manduria district, famous city for its wine, Primitivo di Manduria. This village takes the name after its sighting tower that overhang to the sea. It’s part of a defensive system of coastal towers from the sixteenth century all over the Salento region in order to defend the peninsula from the Turkish raids. The area is in the ionic-salentino coast, a stretch of territory where high dunes and long beaches meet cliffs and overhangs and where the incredible crystal clear and transparent sea is dominant all over.

The village of Torre Colimena rises close-by a natural oasisthe Salina dei Monaci that together with other protected areas is part of the Natural Reserve of the Taranto’s Oriental Coast, placed to safeguard the biodiversity of flora and fauna of particular interest.
This marvelous oasis, rich in history and naturalistic beauties can be reached only by foot and is named after an old salt pan disused by now, created in a natural depression located behind the coastal dunes. The coast of Punta Prosciutto is part of Porto Cesareo district, in the province of Lecce. Here you can find a lots of beach resorts but also a long and wide public beach. When the weather allows it’s also possible to go sailing, diving, windsurf and kitesurf.
This is a protected area, with particular fauna of the place, hight dunes and the thick Mediterranean scrub defines the beach and are enclosed in the Regional Natural Park of the Palude del Conte. Another reason why Punta Prosciutto attracts so much tourism.
